Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Mikie Sherrill’s Victory in New Jersey Governor’s Race
Washington, DC — Today, voters elected Mikie Sherrill as the next governor of New Jersey—cementing a reproductive freedom champion in office who will work to ensure that abortion remains accessible in the state. Sherrill has pledged to enshrine abortion rights in the New Jersey constitution, safeguard access to mifepristone, and defend Planned Parenthood as governor.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Mikie Sherrill on her hard-fought victory. New Jersey voters turned out because they know what is at stake and they trust Governor-elect Sherrill to protect their rights and reproductive freedom. Our 185,000 members in New Jersey worked tirelessly to secure this win by making calls, sending texts, and knocking doors to turn out the vote for Sherrill, and this victory is another example of how unpopular Republicans’ anti-abortion agenda is.”
New Jersey’s 2025 election is a bellwether for the future of reproductive freedom in states across the country heading into 2026. Reproductive Freedom for All’s get-out-the-vote efforts in New Jersey leading up to Election Day included:
● Launching a six-figure digital ad on YouTube, educating voters on the critical role of the State Supreme Court in protecting reproductive freedom, and encouraging voters to turn out
● Layering paid phones and a peer-to-peer messaging campaign targeting voters across the state
