Taylor’s Story

(with Abortion in America)

This story was filmed as part of Abortion in America’s work to lift up personal stories about the real impact of abortion bans across the country. Co-founded by Cecile Richards, Kaitlyn Joshua, and Lauren Peterson, their mission is simple: to make sure these voices are heard.

Speakers

Nevada Attorney General and Candidate for Governor Aaron Ford

Aaron Ford

Nevada Attorney General and Candidate for Governor

he/him

Aaron D. Ford is Nevada’s 34th Attorney General and a battle-tested statewide leader who has delivered results in one of the nation’s most competitive swing states. Under his leadership, Nevada secured more than $1.1 billion from opioid manufacturers to address the opioid crisis and over $118 million in recoveries for consumers harmed by fraud, scams, and anti-competitive practices. Ford has also defended reproductive freedom in the post-Dobbs era, helping protect Nevada’s role as a critical Western access point for abortion care.

A former Majority Leader of the Nevada State Senate, Ford has repeatedly won tough statewide races by building broad, durable coalitions. Now running for governor, he brings the executive experience, governing record, and movement leadership needed to win—and to ensure Nevada remains a national firewall for reproductive rights and democracy.

Mini Timmaraju

President and CEO, Reproductive Freedom for All

she/her

Mini Timmaraju is the president and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice America) and is the first woman of color and immigrant to helm the organization. As a seasoned political strategist and changemaker, Mini has more than 25 years of experience leading efforts to advance reproductive rights, gender justice, and racial justice in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Under Mini’s leadership, Reproductive Freedom for All has been at the forefront of the political response in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade—galvanizing the reproductive freedom movement and ushering in crucial wins in the 2022 midterms and 2023 election cycle. The organization’s more than 4 million members helped secure key victories for reproductive freedom champions up and down the ticket.

Mini frequently appears on MSNBC, major news networks, and podcasts as an expert on abortion’s role in the political landscape. She is frequently quoted in the press, including in the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, and the Associated Press.

Mini is a member of the Moms for a Fair Court Advisory Board. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California-Berkeley and her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.

she/her

Jessica Valenti is a writer, activist, and one of the country’s most influential voices on gender and politics. The award-winning author of eight books—including the New York Times bestseller “Abortion“—she has shaped the national conversation on feminism for over two decades.

Jessica’s groundbreaking anthology “Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape” helped define the modern definition of consent and paved the way for legislation of the same name. She is also widely credited with sparking feminism’s online wave as the founder of the trailblazing blog Feministing.

A former columnist for The Guardian and The Nation, Jessica’s sharp, uncompromising analysis has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and on media outlets from CNN to The Daily Show. She speaks at colleges and organizations nationwide about feminism, abortion, and sexual violence.

After the fall of Roe, Jessica founded Abortion, Every Day, an urgent synthesis of anything and everything happening with abortion rights in the United States. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter.
