California Attorney General Rob Bonta

Receiving the Johnnie Giles Reproductive Freedom Champion award

Rob Bonta

he/him

California Attorney General

Rob Bonta never stops fighting for Californians. As Attorney General, Rob is fighting to make California safe and affordable by taking on fentanyl traffickers, gun smugglers, and price gougers. He’s delivering real results to keep people safe, and to protect basic rights like access to reproductive health care and the freedom to marry. When corporate polluters break the law or Big Pharma fuels the opioid crisis, Rob holds them accountable. And when President Trump attacks, Rob steps up to defend Californians.

As the state’s top law enforcement official, Rob has expanded resources to combat organized retail theft, quickly process rape kits, and fight hate crimes. He’s cracking down on scammers who target seniors, fire victims, and members of the military, while fighting for greater access to good schools, quality health care, and affordable housing.

Rob’s fight for justice is personal. The son of farmworker organizers and an immigrant mom, he was inspired from a young age to fight back against corrupt insiders trying to exploit communities without access to wealth or influence. That’s why he became a public attorney – so that hard-working families would have someone in their corner. As California’s Attorney General, Rob is still taking on the biggest and most important fights for justice, fairness, safety, and accountability.

Katie Phang Independent Journalist and Trial Lawyer

Katie Phang

she/her

Independent Journalist and Trial Lawyer

Katie Phang is an independent journalist and trial lawyer. Formerly the host of “The Katie Phang Show” on MSNBC, Katie also has served as a legal contributor/legal correspondent for several media outlets, such as NBC, MSNBC, and Fox News. She has had a front-row seat to some of the most consequential moments in recent history, including the unsealing of multiple criminal indictments against Donald Trump, oral arguments before the United States Supreme Court on presidential immunity, and attending the only criminal trial of an American president.

After several years in mainstream media, Katie departed cable tv to dive into independent media. Recognizing the importance of fearless, fact-based reporting, Katie launched her own YouTube channel (@katiephangnews) and Substack (@katiephang), leveraging her experience, including as a trial lawyer for more than 25 years, to provide compelling analysis and commentary on the latest legal and political issues across the globe. She cuts through the spin to deliver accurate, truthful information with the goal of creating an ecosystem of pro-democracy, “high-information” Americans.

At a time when every minute is critical, Katie pushes for the media to meet the urgency of the moment with the urgency of the message.

President and CEO, Reproductive Freedom for All

Mini Timmaraju is the president and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice America) and is the first woman of color and immigrant to helm the organization. As a seasoned political strategist and changemaker, Mini has more than 25 years of experience leading efforts to advance reproductive rights, gender justice, and racial justice in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Under Mini’s leadership, Reproductive Freedom for All has been at the forefront of the political response in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade—galvanizing the reproductive freedom movement and ushering in crucial wins in the 2022 midterms and 2023 election cycle. The organization’s more than 4 million members helped secure key victories for reproductive freedom champions up and down the ticket.

Mini frequently appears on MSNBC, major news networks, and podcasts as an expert on abortion’s role in the political landscape. She is frequently quoted in the press, including in the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, and the Associated Press.
