Holding Republicans Accountable for the So-Called ‘Beautiful Bill’

Republicans further entrenched the country in a deadly health care crisis in July 2025 when they passed Trump’s so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” gutting Medicaid, defunding Planned Parenthood, ripping health care away from 16 million people, and amounting to a nationwide backdoor abortion ban.

With so many GOP lawmakers hiding from their constituents during August recess, we hosted events and town halls in their districts, while launching “Missing Persons” billboards and posters in key states including Arizona, California, and Nevada.

We leveraged research from battleground districts to drive the narrative—through the media, op-eds, and messaging—that the majority support reproductive freedom, and to ensure that communities across the country knew the consequences of this budget bill.

Our six-figure ad buy in target districts (AZ-01, AZ-06, CA-22, MI-07, PA-07) called out Republicans for threatening access to affordable health care and putting Planned Parenthood—one of the largest care providers for Medicaid patients—at risk.

Our ads successfully engaged and motivated voters across the political spectrum, including Republicans by double digits.

We equipped our members with activist toolkits to help anyone take action—from anywhere—whether they were calling and writing their lawmakers, or organizing people online.

During August recess, our members made 6,900+ calls and sent 61,300+ texts in key states such as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, while recruiting almost 8,000 new members and dozens of new volunteers.

We also hosted events, including Rights Nights, where members held house parties to educate their communities on the Republican budget, share stories, and hold their representatives accountable.
