Trump’s latest nominee to FDA commissioner is Dr. Heidi Overton. Described as a “fierce opponent of abortion rights,” she would lead the agency that’s in charge of many reproductive health care medications, including, you guessed it—mifepristone. One of the safest medication abortion pills used for the last 25 years. 😵💫
The Senate hasn’t confirmed her yet, but here’s the reality: someone who’s spent her career pushing anti-abortion rhetoric shouldn’t get the power to restrict or ban mifepristone nationwide. That’s exactly the risk here.
