Rights Nights: How to Host a House Party
A how-to guide for hosting your own reproductive freedom party or gathering
A Rights Night is simply a hangout or house party with a twist: we share why reproductive freedom matters, discuss what’s happening now, and end with a collective action.
There’s no “right” way to run it. Whatever feels natural for you and your community is the best thing to do!
How to Get Started in 4 Easy Steps
Sign Up to Volunteer
If you haven't already, be sure to sign up to volunteer with Reproductive Freedom for All.
Create an Invite Page
Set up your event’s invite page. This tracks RSVPs and lets us know when your party is happening.
Use Our Guide
Decide who you want to invite—close friends, coworkers, or anyone who might care. Use the Outreach Guide to craft a short, friendly invitation. Confirm your guests 48–24 hours before your party (and ask if they’re bringing a friend!)
Request Funds
Prepare your materials and set up a TV, computer, or projector for any visuals (slideshows, videos, or QR codes) you’ll use during your party
Don’t forget to request funding. We’ll send you $15 per guest (up to 12 guests) via a digital gift card.
Hosting a rights night is easy and fun.

Introduce yourself: “I’m [Your Name], my pronouns are [pronouns], and I’m hosting this Rights Night because [your why].”
Invite each guest to share name and pronouns and a quick why‑they‑are‑here.
Make sure everyone feels welcome and a part of the group!
You decide what to do! Choose the format that feels right for your party:
- Slideshow: We have templates we can share on a variety of topics!
- Video: You can watch a video of our podcast, a documentary, or something else.
- Group Activity: Make calls, send texts, or write postcards to voters.
No matter what you choose, you should have an open and inclusive discussion.
Use our conversation guide’s open-ended questions to get started.
Topic could include: what you value, how policies have impacted you, what the future looks like for reproductive freedom in your community.
Share a QR code or link to a quick digital action (or a few!) like voter‑registration check, upcoming event, petition, or advocacy action. You can find our most up-to-date actions in the Repro Download.
Ask everyone to pick ONE action to take tonight together and one action to do on the coming week. Share out your plans as a group.

Thank guests in person, snap a photo, and encourage them to post on socials (tag @ReproductiveFreedomForAll).
Send a thank‑you email or text the next day with event highlights, links, and an invitation to host their own Rights Night.

Assume the best intentions in each other.
Create an inclusive environment for everyone.
Listen before you respond and be open to learning from your guests, too.
Ask questions, don’t jump to conclusions.
Set the tone by going first, then let the conversation flow naturally.
Don’t feel like you need to rush.
