In 2022, David McCormick said he supported banning abortion. His campaign website at the time described him as “staunchly pro-life” and believing that “life begins at conception”—a belief that threatens not only abortion access, but also contraception and fertility treatments like IVF.

Now, David McCormick is attempting to scale back his extremism, claiming to be “opposed to a national abortion ban” and supporting exceptions for rape and incest. So-called exceptions to abortion bans don’t work in practice—they’re just a convenient talking point for extremists to pretend their views are anything but. We know that if he is elected to the Senate, McCormick will be a rubber stamp for a national abortion ban.
