Republican candidate Eric Hovde in a map of the U.S. with Wisconsin highlighted

Eric Hovde described himself as a “strong believer in pro-life” and “totally opposed to abortion” in a podcast interview in 2012.

Despite his record, Hovde told Milwaukee reporters in April that women “should have a right to make a choice” early on in their pregnancies, and has tried to disingenuously make himself more moderate by suggesting that a 12-14 week abortion ban is “a reasonable time range.”

When pressed to elaborate on how he’s flip-flopped, he deployed falsehoods about abortion, insisting  that “common-sense solutions” will prevent “abortion up until the point of delivery.”

The truth is—any ban on abortion puts our freedom and lives at risk. Hovde’s flat-out lies about abortion occurring “moments before birth” or even “after birth” are dangerous disinformation being used as an excuse to push anti-abortion extremists’ agendas.
