NARAL Pro-Choice America today endorsed Eugene DePasquale in his campaign to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, challenging anti-choice Republican Rep. Scott Perry, who was among the group of anti-choice lawmakers who signed onto a recent amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to consider overturning Roe v. Wade. DePasquale currently serves as Pennsylvania State Auditor General and is a former State Representative.
“With reproductive freedom under attack in states across the country, including in Pennsylvania, we need leaders like Eugene fighting for us in Congress,” said Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “During his tenure as State Auditor General and as a state legislator, he stood up time and again for Pennsylvania women and families. NARAL is proud to endorse Eugene because we know he will fight tirelessly for a woman’s ability to make her own decisions about pregnancy, free from the interference of politicians like Scott Perry.”
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America,” said Eugene DePasquale. “One thing I am certain of is that it is not a politician’s place to put themselves between an individual and their doctor. As we are seeing increased attacks across the country to take away reproductive freedoms, I will continue to be a strong ally and stand on the side of women’s health.” DePasquale represented Pennsylvania’s 95th District in the state House of Representatives from 2007 to 2013. He is running to flip to pro-choice control the seat currently held by anti-choice Republican Rep. Scott Perry, who consistently receives a 0% score from NARAL in the Congressional Record on Choice and who stands against the seven in 10 Americans who support Roe v. Wade.
