Washington, DC — Today, NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed 13 reproductive freedom champions and future champions running for election to the Virginia General Assembly. In these highly contested seats, these candidates have shown their undeterred commitment to safeguarding the right to abortion. Ensuring that reproductive freedom champions are elected to the General Assembly is crucial to protecting abortion rights and access in Virginia. The state House is currently controlled by Republicans, and state Senate Democrats have been the only thing standing between an abortion ban and Virginians.

NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“If anti-abortion Republicans win control of the General Assembly, there’s no doubt that they will ban abortion in the state. Virginians deserve better. These champions have shown their unwavering commitment to safeguarding abortion access, and we are proud to fight alongside them.”

State Senate Endorsements:

  • Schuyler VanValkenburg (SD 16)
  • Aaron Rouse (SD 22)
  • Monty Mason (SD 24)
  • Russet Perry (SD 31)
  • Danica Roem (SD 30)
