NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement today, following the passing of longtime U.S. Representative and civil rights icon John Lewis:
“John Lewis embodied everything we strive to be in our collective fight for freedom, equality, and justice in this country. He was an unwavering champion for civil rights, women’s rights, and reproductive freedom and justice. We are forever indebted to and grateful for his example in leadership, and are inspired by his endless hope, compassion, and fearlessness, even during the darkest of times.
We extend our deepest love and condolences to Congressman Lewis’ loved ones and I, NARAL, and the entire NARAL family pledge to honor his legacy by making ‘good trouble’ and never backing down from the pursuit of equality and justice.”
