NARAL Pro-Choice America Responds to VP Pence Hosting Anti-Choice “Life is Winning” Event Amid Record-Breaking COVID-19 Deaths

Washington, DC — Tomorrow, Vice President Mike Pence is hosting an event at the White House to celebrate the Trump administration’s unyielding attacks on reproductive freedom. This event is the latest example of the Trump administration prioritizing their extreme ideological agenda over the health and safety of Americans. The “Life is Winning” event comes just a few short days after the United States surpassed the grim milestone of over 300,000 deaths from COVID-19.
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement in response:
“Mike Pence and the Trump administration’s ‘pro-life’ hypocrisy knows no bounds. This administration’s extreme anti-choice agenda could not be more out-of-touch with the majority of people’s values. Celebrating ‘life’ when the Trump administration’s botched response to this raging pandemic has left hundreds of thousands dead and millions more suffering is truly something to behold. To claim a ‘pro-life’ mantle while turning a blind eye to science and actively throwing Americans under the bus is despicable.”
Pence has long prioritized his anti-choice fanaticism over the health and well-being of those he was elected to serve. He disregarded life-saving public health guidance this summer when he embarked on a reckless multi-state tour of fake women’s health centers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
