Reproductive Freedom for All Announces New Director of Arizona Campaigns, Athena Salman

Phoenix, Arizona – Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced the organization’s new director of Arizona campaigns, Athena Salman. Salman comes to Reproductive Freedom for All after serving in the Arizona House of Representatives, where she was a fierce advocate for access to reproductive health care, including abortion, since she was first elected in 2016. In 2023, she established the Arizona Repro Table, a coalition of partners in Arizona working together to protect and advance reproductive rights. Salman will be resigning her seat at the end of the year to begin at Reproductive Freedom for All in January.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Athena’s leadership in the Arizona House of Representatives has been essential to defending and advancing reproductive freedom. I can think of no better person to lead our work and our 75,000 members in the state as we organize and mobilize to secure crucial electoral victories — from a ballot measure to a critical U.S. Senate race to the White House and everything in between. We are thrilled to have her on our team.”

Incoming Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:

“It’s been the honor of my life to represent Arizona’s 8th District in the state House of Representatives, and I’m proud to continue the work I started there as Director of Arizona Campaigns at Reproductive Freedom for All. Anti-abortion politicians have harmed countless families in our state, and I’m ready to put a stop to their senseless attacks on our rights.”

Reproductive Freedom for All Director of State Campaigns Caroline Mello Roberson released the following statement:

“With deep roots in her community, Athena has seen firsthand the horrific consequences of the anti-abortion legislation that the GOP has forced through the legislature. Arizonans know they can trust her to champion their rights, and I am confident she has what it takes to help us secure victory this November and beyond.

In 2020, our organization took its fight for reproductive freedom to Arizona, launching NARAL Pro-Choice Arizona (now Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona). Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona is dedicated to advancing reproductive freedom for all through legislative, political, and community organizing. We have organizers in the state, which allows us to organize directly in communities alongside our 75,000 members with door-to-door outreach, phone banking, online actions, and community events.
