Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona Statement on State GOP’s Efforts to Block Ballot Measure and Ensure All Abortion Is Banned
Phoenix, AZ — Today, news broke that anti-abortion Republicans in Arizona’s state legislature are working to put an abortion ban on the ballot with the goal of confusing voters and ensuring that abortion remains banned in the state.
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:
“When anti-abortion Republicans in the legislature can’t get their way, they lie and cheat—and that’s exactly what they’re trying to do here. They know that the vast majority of Arizonans want to secure the right to abortion in the state constitution, so they are trying to confuse them with another ballot measure in order to keep one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country on the books. All of this makes our goal for this November even more urgent. We must kick these anti-abortion politicians out of office and enshrine the right to abortion in our state’s constitution.”
