Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona Announces Endorsement Against Retention for Justices Bolick and King
Phoenix, AZ — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona announced its support for the campaign effort to vote “NO” on the retentions of Justices Bolick and King. This November, two out of the seven seats on the Arizona Supreme Court will be up for retention in the general election— Clint Bolick and Kathryn Hackett King. If retained, they will each serve a six-year term. Both justices were appointed by former Gov. Doug Ducey, an opponent to reproductive freedom who packed the state’s Supreme Court in 2016 to ensure an anti-abortion extremist supermajority. Currently, every sitting justice on the Court was appointed by a Republican Governor.
Both Justice Clint Bolick and Justice Kathryn Hackett King ruled in favor of reinstating Arizona’s 1864 total abortion ban.
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:
“Time and again we’ve seen how this corrupt Court completely disregards our rights and the will of Arizonans. Gov. Doug Ducey used his power to pack this Court with anti-abortion extremists who at every opportunity have ruled against our fundamental rights and freedoms. We have the opportunity to fill two of these seats with Justices who are reflective of the will of our state and who will respect our right to abortion care. Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona is proud to endorse against the retention of Justices Bolick and King and is ready to mobilize our members to get it done this November.”
