Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates Joe Biden Becoming Presumptive Democratic Nominee for President
Washington, DC — Today, President Joe Biden earned enough delegates to become the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for the 2024 election.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“President Joe Biden is leading the most pro-reproductive freedom administration in American history—that’s a fact. Together with Vice President Harris, he has been defending our rights since day one. The road ahead is long, and the fight to restore our rights will be hard, but we know President Biden will be on our side.”
Reproductive Freedom for All announced an early endorsement of the Biden-Harris ticket last June alongside Planned Parenthood Action Fund and EMILYs List. As Republican politicians endanger the health and lives of millions of Americans with abortion bans, fight laws meant to ensure patients facing emergencies can access care, threaten people who miscarry with jail time, and declare their support for a nationwide ban, the only way to restore our rights and freedoms is by reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris. This administration has done more to defend reproductive freedom and expand abortion access than any other in history. Since taking office in 2021, the Biden-Harris administration’s actions to protect abortion rights and access have included:
- Establishing the Reproductive Rights Task Force;
- Taking executive actions to defend reproductive freedom;
- Championing a federal right to abortion that restores the protections of Roe and our rights;
- Signing the Presidential Memorandum on Ensuring Safe Access to Medication Abortion;
- Fighting back against disinformation by launching reproductiverights.gov;
- Rescinding the Trump administration’s attempt to dramatically expand harmful refusal of care laws;
- Directing the Justice Department to defend reproductive freedom in the courts; and
- Nominating and confirming dozens of fair-minded judges, including Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who recognize our fundamental freedoms.
Our organization is already on the ground in states across the country as part of our largest-ever electoral program, working to ensure reproductive freedom champions are elected from statehouses to the White House and that we protect and expand abortion rights and access through ballot measures. Our 2024 program connects voters with opportunities to make immediate, tangible change to help build a future where everyone is free to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives, and families. The program focuses on engaging members and voters — and especially Gen Z, young Black voters, and young voters of color — through digital and relational organizing, deep field investments, robust accountability and communications programs, on-the-ground support in key races and ballot initiatives, and more.
