Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes for Reelection

Today, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Attorney General Kris Mayes for reelection. Mayes has consistently used her position to expand access to reproductive freedom for all Arizonans, including her leadership on efforts to block the Arizona Supreme Court’s ruling that reinstated the 1864 abortion ban.

Attorneys general play a critical role in enforcing protections for abortion access across the country. Anti-abortion extremists in the state legislature have repeatedly tried to undermine Arizonans’ right to abortion—even after voters enshrined it in the state constitution through Prop 139—disregarding the 9 in 10 Arizonans who support reproductive freedom.

Reproductive Freedom for All, President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Attorneys general are on the frontlines defending our reproductive freedom, and Arizonans know firsthand that this office has the power to protect their constitutional right to abortion.  Anti-abortion Republicans who want to drag the state back to 1864 are working to take back this seat and overturn the protections Arizonans overwhelmingly voted for in 2024. Attorney General Kris Mayes has made it clear that she will stand up for Prop 139 without hesitation. Reproductive Freedom for All is proud to support Attorney General Mayes as she fights to give Arizona families the freedom to build the futures they want.”

Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:

“There’s not a tougher fighter for reproductive freedom than Attorney General Kris Mayes. She defeated multiple attempts by anti-abortion extremists to place Arizona under an abortion ban, and upheld the will of the voters by defending our newly won constitutional right to abortion in court. Families across the state deserve an attorney general who will be relentless in their efforts to protect and expand reproductive freedom. Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona is ready to mobilize our 94,000 members to ensure we reelect Attorney General Mayes this November.”

Attorney General Kris Mayes released the following statement:

“I am proud to accept Reproductive Freedom for All’s endorsement, as we fight to protect reproductive care, abortion access, and the will of voters who came together in ‘24 to ensure politicians weren’t making deeply personal medical decisions for Arizonans. Unafraid of a tough fight, in my first term, I took decisive action to challenge Arizona’s 1864 abortion ban and kept fighting to protect mifepristone and IVF. As extremist anti-abortion Republicans continue to vie for the attorney general’s office, know that I will hold the line and defend the constitutional rights and personal freedoms of Arizonans if they are threatened.”

Reproductive Freedom for All recently endorsed Senate Majority Leader Nicole Canizzarro for Attorney General in Nevada, and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, and Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford in their respective bids for governor. The organization also launched its first slate of U.S. Senate endorsements in the 2026 cycle—backing candidates who will protect reproductive freedom in Congress, statehouses, and governors’ offices nationwide.
