Reproductive Freedom for All Georgia Responds to Devastating Update in Adriana Smith’s Story
Atlanta, GA – Today, Reproductive Freedom for All Georgia is responding to the devastating news that after Georgia’s inhumane abortion ban forced Adriana Smith to be kept on life support to give birth against her family’s wishes, her baby – who spent months in intensive care – remains sick, and her family is saddled with costly medical bills.
Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Georgia Campaigns Alicia Stallworth released the following statement:
“Adriana Smith’s family has endured heartbreak no one should ever carry. We hold them close as they continue to grieve. Georgia’s abortion ban has made pregnancy more dangerous, especially for Black women, and this tragedy makes that painfully clear. Pregnant people deserve safety, dignity, and real control over their own lives, not the cruelty delivered by Brian Kemp, Chris Carr, Donald Trump, and anti-abortion extremists.
As the legislative session begins, lawmakers have a choice. They can keep ignoring the harm this ban is causing, or they can act to restore bodily autonomy and prevent another family from facing this kind of loss.”
