Reproductive Freedom for All Thanks President Biden for Commitment to Reproductive Freedom, Endorses Vice President Kamala Harris as He Exits Race
Washington, DC — Today, as President Joe Biden announces his exit from the 2024 presidential race, Reproductive Freedom for All extends its deepest gratitude to President Biden for his long-standing commitment to reproductive freedom. Reproductive Freedom for All also announces its endorsement of Vice President Harris for president. Vice President Harris’ candidacy is historic. She would be the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first person of South Asian American descent to serve as president.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“President Biden and Vice President Harris have fought by our movement’s side to protect and expand reproductive freedom, and our country is stronger and more unified because of their commitment to our fundamental rights and the American people. There is no doubt that President Biden’s legacy will be remembered as one of the most effective presidents in American history, with an unparalleled commitment to doing what’s best for our country. We have deep gratitude for all he has done to fight for our fundamental freedoms throughout his long career and in this race.
Our mission in this race has been and will continue to be to beat Donald Trump—and Vice President Harris is the best candidate to do that. We must unite behind her as the Democratic nominee. Vice President Harris has shown to the American people that she is the leader we need in this moment to go toe to toe with Donald Trump and stop a Trump-Vance administration from ending our fundamental rights and democracy. There is nobody who has fought as hard for abortion rights and access, and we are proud to endorse her in this race.”
The Biden-Harris administration has done unparalleled work to protect and advance reproductive freedom, including by:
- Establishing the Reproductive Rights Task Force;
- Taking executive actions to defend reproductive freedom;
- Championing the Women’s Health Protection Act;
- Signing the Presidential Memorandum on Ensuring Safe Access to Medication Abortion;
- Fighting back against disinformation by launching reproductiverights.gov;
- Directing the Justice Department to defend reproductive freedom in the courts;
- Nominating and confirming fair-minded judges, including Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who believe in our freedom;
