ICYMI: Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona Pickets Outside of the Prominent GOP Donor’s Auto Dealership

Rep. Ciscomani cut Arizonan’s healthcare. Jim Click got him to Congress.

Over the weekend, Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona, alongside Worker Power, Vets Forward, Vets for Peace, and Good Trouble Action Group, gathered 50 people to picket outside the auto dealership of prominent GOP Donor, Jim Click, who has bankrolled many GOP campaigns, including Representative Juan Ciscomani.

In July, Ciscomani voted to pass Trump’s budget bill that makes deep cuts to Medicaid and defunds Planned Parenthood nationally. In Arizona, 360,000 people are at risk of losing their Medicaid coverage, and rural hospitals stand to lose $1.2 billion in funding over 10 years.

“Juan Ciscomani and his fellow Republicans shut down the government instead of fixing the crisis they created when they forced through the largest health care cuts in history back in July,” Athena Salman, Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns said. “As a result, Ciscomani’s donors like Jim Click become richer while the bottom 20% of Americans become poorer. We are here to hold the wealthiest people accountable for the harm they’re causing in our communities. This is all while Ciscomani remains silent as the Trump administration attacks the reproductive freedom of our active service members and veterans.”

“Jim Click must hate veterans. As a young college athlete, he managed to avoid military service in Vietnam. Now, he supports Ciscomani and Trump in firing thousands of veterans from federal jobs,” Jim Discroll of Good Trouble Tucson Action Group said. “They have also cut funding for the VA hospital in south Tucson where those of us who did choose to serve in Vietnam get our health care. Get his attention. Don’t buy a car from anti-veteran Jim Click.”

“Veterans are being deported. Veteran services are being cut. Veterans are being fired from their federal jobs,” Ricardo Reyes, Executive Director of Vets Forward said. “Rep. Ciscomani is complicit — and Jim Click is guilty by association.”

“As a veteran and cancer survivor, I’m here today because of the dedicated men and women of the VA,” Marilyn Wilbur, U.S. Air Force veteran said. “Veterans deserve better than leaders like Juan Ciscomani, who votes to cut our services—and Jim Click, who helped put him in office.”

Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona has hosted numerous events to hold Rep. Ciscomani accountable for his blatant attacks on health care for hardworking Arizonans. This is the second picket outside of one of Click’s dealerships and earlier this week, the organization launched mobile billboards around Tucson, highlighting Click’s role in getting Ciscomani elected.

Last week, Reproductive Freedom for All also endorsed JoAnna Mendoza for AZ-06 to run against Ciscomani. In June, volunteers also collaborated to hand out “Missing Person” flyers for Capitol Hill.
