ICYMI: Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada Hosts Roundtable on the Devastating Impacts of the Federal Budget Bill

This week, Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada hosted a roundtable discussion with Congressman Steven Horsford to highlight the devastating impacts of the GOP’s federal budget bill on reproductive health care access, equity, and delivery of care in the state.

Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Nevada Campaigns Denise Lopez moderated the discussion with Congressman Horsford and local leaders in the fight to protect access to reproductive care, health care providers, and public health experts. They spoke about the life-threatening consequences of the deeply unpopular budget bill for Nevadans and their efforts to fight back. The bill slashes nearly $1 trillion in funding from Medicaid and will leave 16 million people across the country without health care coverage. In Nevada, 70,000 people rely on Medicaid and stand to lose their care due to massive cuts.

Roundtable participants also discussed state-level attacks, such as Governor Lombardo’s vetoes of critical reproductive freedom legislation. The discussion came just days after Nevada’s unconstitutional forced parental involvement law went into effect for the first time since it was passed in 1985. Leaders at the event also emphasized the importance of Nevadans passing Question 6, the ballot initiative to constitutionally protect access to abortion again in 2026.
