Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada Statement on Unconstitutional Enforcement of 40-year-old Parental Involvement Law

Carson City, NV — This week, Nevada Right to Life, an extreme anti-abortion group, forced an unconstitutional law requiring parental involvement into effect for the first time since it was passed over 40 years ago. In response, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, which includes Nevada, filed a lawsuit in state court to block the law’s implementation.

Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Nevada Campaigns Denise Lopez released the following statement:

“Enforcing this antiquated law for the first time in 40 years is a direct threat to all people who want to control their reproductive health. Like every patient, young people deserve confidentiality with their health care. Instead of facing additional barriers that delay access to time-sensitive care, young people need support from trusted medical professionals. Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada will continue to stand with Planned Parenthood Mar Monte to make sure people of all ages have access to sexual and reproductive health care without interference.”
