Reproductive Freedom for All Congratulates Mikie Sherrill on Winning the First Debate in the New Jersey Gubernatorial Race
Washington, DC — Reproductive Freedom for All congratulates Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill on winning the first debate in the New Jersey Gubernatorial race. In August, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed the Congresswoman, because Democratic governors are a key backstop to threats on all levels and are stepping up to defend our fundamental rights and freedoms.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Congratulations to our next Governor of New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill, for her decisive win in tonight’s debate. Jack Ciattarelli is an anti-abortion extremist, and will work in lock-step with the Trump administration to attack abortion access. Mikie Sherrill has a proven track record of fighting for her state and that was made clear tonight on the debate stage.”
Sherrill’s opponent, Jack Ciattarelli, has an extreme anti-abortion record, including advocating for strict abortion bans, voting to defund Planned Parenthood, refusing to support the Reproductive Freedom Act, praising the Supreme Court appointees that overturned Roe v. Wade and committing to appoint conservatives justices to the State Supreme Court if elected.
Reproductive Freedom for All has also endorsed Abigail Spanberger and Aaron Ford for Governor, and is backing frontline candidates across the country who will be vital to protecting access to reproductive care.
