Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Elissa Slotkin for U.S. Senate in Michigan

Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All announced its endorsement of Rep. Elissa Slotkin for the U.S. Senate. Throughout Rep. Slotkin’s congressional career, she has consistently received a 100% score on Reproductive Freedom for All’s congressional scorecard. During her time in Congress, Rep. Sloktin cosponsored two of Reproductive Freedom for All’s priority bills: the Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act and signed on to the congressional amicus brief in AHM v. FDA.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin is dedicated to fighting for our fundamental freedoms and democracy. The GOP wants to ban abortion in all 50 states, including Michigan, and we need Senators like Slotkin, who will stand up against Trump and Senate Republicans’ extreme agenda. We need Rep. Slotkin’s voice representing Michganers in the U.S. Senate to lock the federal right to abortion into law and expand access across our nation.”

Rep. Elissa Slotkin released the following statement:

I am grateful for this endorsement from Reproductive Freedom for All,” said Slotkin. “We know that overturning Roe wasn’t the end. It was only the beginning. And Republicans are attacking through the front door when they attacked Roe, through the courts, and now, at the same time, through the back door with unending attacks on reproductive freedoms, for the past 19 months, they have launched legislative attacks through Congress on basically every women’s rights – contraceptives, travel, abortion medication, and now even IVF. My Republican opponents in this race have co-led bills and voted to ban abortion over and over and, most recently, refuse to protect IVF at the federal level. In the U.S. Senate, it will be clear where I stand: I will defend a woman’s right to have a family when and how she chooses. These decisions belong to families and their doctors — not elected officials who care more about their elections than the lives of women.

Reproductive Freedom for All is already on the ground in states across the country, including Michigan, as part of its largest-ever electoral program, working to ensure reproductive freedom champions are elected from statehouses to the White House and that we protect and expand abortion rights and access through ballot measures. Our 2024 program connects voters with opportunities to make immediate, tangible change to help build a future where everyone is free to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives, and families.

In November, on the heels of yet another resounding victory for abortion rights in elections across the country, Reproductive Freedom for All launched its “Vote for Repro Freedom” campaign. This digital and grassroots campaign will harness the momentum of big wins in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky by encouraging voters to commit to voting in 2024 for reproductive freedom champions as the first step in mobilizing the 8 in 10 Americans who support legal abortion.
