🔍 A Closer Look: Nevada Republican Lawmakers Voted for a Deadly Bill
Earlier this year, Republican lawmakers in Congress, including Nevada U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei knowingly voted to take lifesaving health care away from over 10 million Americans across the country, severely cutting funding for Medicaid and “defunding” Planned Parenthood.

During August recess and beyond, we’re fighting back against extremist lawmakers who are voting against the people.
⚠️ The Stakes: Reproductive Health Care and Abortion Access Gutted
Planned Parenthood clinics have already closed this year because of previous Trump administration budget cuts.
And let’s not forget—this bill pushes us closer toward a nationwide backdoor abortion ban. The provision to “defund” Planned Parenthood could cause more than 200 clinics to close nationwide, including clinics in states where abortion is legal.
When clinics close, it will reduce people’s access to abortion care, in addition to birth control, cancer screenings, and other health care services.
Thanks to the Republicans’ deadly bill, in Nevada:
13 rural “critical access” hospitals face closures, which serve 300,000 people every year who live 118+ miles away from care
More than half of all births in Nevada are covered by Medicaid, meaning pregnancy care will get even harder to access
HE VOTED FOR THIS. WE’RE CALLING HIM OUT.

After the bill passed, Gov. Joe Lombardo said Nevadans should be “excited”—even as families brace for higher costs and fewer options.
Here’s two ways we took action:
In Rep. Amodei’s district we hosted a Reno town hall focused on the devastating impacts of the budget bill. Both Amodei and Lombardo were invited but didn’t show.

We also rolled out accountability posters across Amodei’s district so constituents know who voted to gut their care.

We held a roundtable with reproductive freedom champion Rep. Steven Horsford, joined by providers, public health experts, and local leaders to discuss how to defend access and equity despite GOP attacks.

Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada joined providers and advocates to host a town hall with reproductive freedom champion U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford.
