Last week, Reproductive Freedom For All celebrated its endorsement of Senator Jon Ossoff with a joint event alongside Planned Parenthood Action Fund, underscoring what is at stake for reproductive freedom in one of the most consequential Senate races in the country. Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju and Planned Parenthood Action Fund President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson spoke about how this race will shape access to abortion and health care for millions.

Senator Ossoff has been an outstanding champion for reproductive rights and a leading voice pushing back against extremist Republicans’ agenda to gut funding for health care and ban abortion nationwide. Ossoff has shed light on the harms of Georgia’s extreme abortion ban by releasing reports on its effects and holding field hearings to lift up those most impacted, opposing the budget that would have defunded Planned Parenthood, and demanding accountability for the lives taken by these extreme abortion restrictions.
In Reproductive Freedom For All’s endorsement release, President and CEO Mini Timmaraju said, “Senator Jon Ossoff has been a clear and unwavering champion for reproductive freedom, standing up for Georgians’ right to make their own personal medical decisions. […] As extremists in the Senate continue to push for a national abortion ban and rip people’s health care away, it is more important than ever that we re-elect Senator Ossoff. He is critical to securing a Senate majority that will stop this administration’s attacks on our rights and freedoms.” Sen. Ossoff has consistently fought against the anti-abortion attacks from Trump and his administration, and now he’s making Georgia’s health care emergency a centerpiece of his re-election campaign.
This race comes at a moment when Trump, Republicans in Congress, and other anti-abortion extremists are escalating their attacks nationwide. Most recently, Senator Josh Hawley introduced legislation that would revoke the FDA approval of mifepristone, furthering his extreme anti-abortion agenda. Other anti-abortion lawmakers introduced a bill known as the Clean Water for All Life Act, which would restrict access to medication abortion by misusing environmental claims.
