Reproductive Freedom for All Celebrates as Kirsten Engel Secures Democratic Nomination in AZ-06
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All-endorsed candidate for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, Kirsten Engel, secured the Democratic nomination in her race to defeat anti-abortion Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani. This race is a targeted flip seat for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and could help determine the majority in the U.S. House.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Arizonans living under an abortion ban in a state with over 40 abortion restrictions on the books need Kirsten Engel in Congress to fight for them. Her race is critical to winning back the U.S. House and locking in a reproductive freedom majority that will pass a federal right to abortion. Rep. Juan Ciscoman is dangerously out of touch with the values of Arizonans, and we’re ready to mobilize our members to vote him out. We are thrilled that Engel is one step closer to giving Arizona families the representation they deserve.”
Reproductive Freedom for All is on the ground in states across the country—including Arizona— as part of its largest-ever electoral program, working to ensure reproductive freedom champions are elected from statehouses to the White House and that we protect and expand abortion rights and access through ballot measures. Our 2024 program connects voters with opportunities to make immediate, tangible changes to help build a future where everyone is free to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives, and families.
