Reproductive Freedom For All Responds to Iowa’s Six-Week Abortion Ban Going Into Effect
Washington, DC — Today, Iowa’s six-week abortion ban, which bans abortion before many people even know they are pregnant, goes into effect.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Iowans today are waking up with fewer rights and freedoms. This ban will add to the dangerous patchwork of laws that confuse patients, instill fear in doctors, and put lives at risk. It’s a stark reminder of the urgent need for federal protections for abortion. In the last several days, we’ve seen how badly Donald Trump and his party don’t want to talk about abortion. But Kamala Harris knows that this is a winning issue. We must work tirelessly to secure reproductive freedom majorities in Congress and elect Kamala Harris as President so we can expand abortion access, restore the federal right to abortion, and stop bans like these in their tracks.
