Reproductive Freedom for All Launches Ad Campaign Holding Rep. Juan Ciscomani Accountable for Cutting Arizonans’ Health Care and Raising Costs

This week, Reproductive Freedom for All launched a five-figure digital ad buy in U.S. House district AZ-06 to remind voters that Representative Juan Ciscomani voted to cut Medicaid, “defund” Planned Parenthood, and raise health care costs for Arizona families, and continued to stand by Donald Trump as he spewed blatant lies about the GOP-created health care crisis during last night’s State of the Union.

The ad, which targets women 40 and under in Ciscomani’s district on YouTube, is part of an ongoing accountability campaign to ensure voters know their representative sided with Donald Trump and GOP leadership to gut public health programs, strip access to lifesaving sexual and reproductive health care, and let Affordable Care Act (ACA) premiums skyrocket. Reproductive Freedom for All is also running ads in Michigan.

Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman released the following statement:

“Congressman Juan Ciscomani must answer for his decision to put partisan politics before the people he was elected to serve. By choosing Trump over his own constituents, Ciscomani has raised health care costs for families and pushed essential care even farther out of reach. Arizonans deserve a leader who will fight to lower costs and expand health care access, not take it away. Come November, voters will hold Ciscomani accountable for failing Arizonans.”

How Rep. Ciscomani’s votes hurt Arizonans:

  • More than 365,000 Arizonans are at risk of losing their health coverage because of Trump’s deadly budget bill, which Ciscomani voted to pass. Before HR1, AHCCCS (Medicaid) covered half of all births in Arizona. Ciscomani-approved cuts to Medicaid threaten maternal care for hundreds of thousands of Arizona families.
  • Because Republicans, including Ciscomani, refused to extend ACA enhanced premium tax credits, health care costs have skyrocketed—and a new report from Protect Our Care found that ACA enrollment in Arizona plummeted by more than 65,000 this year, with advocates warning the coverage gap will only grow, leading to higher costs and more uninsured families.
  • Rural hospitals in Arizona stand to lose $1.2 billion over 10 years, with five facing immediate risk of closure—increasing existing barriers to reproductive health care and exacerbating the strain on urban hospitals already stretched too thin.

This latest ad buy builds on Reproductive Freedom for All’s sustained accountability efforts in AZ-06. Last May, the organization launched a five-figure ad buy targeting Ciscomani and other vulnerable U.S. House Republicans ahead of the budget vote. In August and November, Reproductive Freedom for All Arizona members picketed GOP megadonor Jim Click for funding Ciscomani’s campaign, launched a mobile billboard, and distributed “Missing Person” flyers after Ciscomani and other Republicans voted for Trump’s ugly budget bill and refused to face their constituents. In November, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Democrat JoAnna Mendoza in the race for AZ-06 against Ciscomani.
