Reproductive Freedom For All Responds to Senate Republicans Again Blocking Critical Reproductive Freedom Legislation

Washington, DC — Today, Senate Republicans blocked Democrats’ efforts to bring two key pieces of legislation aimed at protecting and advancing reproductive freedom for unanimous consent. The blocked legislation includes a resolution reaffirming the right to emergency health care, including abortion, introduced by Sen. Murray, along with Senators Rosen, Baldwin, and Wyden, and the Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act, introduced by Senators Baldwin and Murray, which would ease the financial burden of people traveling to access abortion care. These requests come on the heels of news out of Georgia last week reporting the first two documented deaths in the country related to abortion bans.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Republicans’ actions are despicable. Let there be no doubt—they do not care about our well-being and they will continue to let people die for the sake of their anti-abortion agenda. We extend our gratitude to Senate Democrats for understanding that reproductive freedom is a life-or-death issue, working to meet the urgent needs of pregnant people, and addressing the crisis we’re in.”
