This is what people power looks like; the will of the voters is being reflected in our laws. This is a huge victory for reproductive freedom!
But the fight isn’t over. This legislative session, we’re up against a wave of attacks on reproductive rights—bills that threaten contraception, fertility treatments, LGBTQIA+ rights, and even criminalize pregnancy outcomes. That’s why we showed up in force at Lobby Day, taking our movement straight to the state capitol.
Urge your AZ lawmakers to continue protecting our reproductive freedom
A number of bills are moving through the Arizona state legislative session this year, and our state lawmakers need to know they should be prioritizing, protecting, and expanding reproductive freedom.
Send messages to your lawmakers urging them to oppose anti-abortion bills that would further restrict our rights.
We kicked off the day with a press conference featuring legislative champions like State Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan and State House Democratic Leader Oscar De Los Santos, Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Arizona Campaigns Athena Salman, and abortion storyteller Alison Marciniak.
They reinforced their commitment to protecting abortion access and fighting back against extremist attacks.

Next, we held a morning panel on pregnancy criminalization, featuring Civia Tamarkin (President of NCJW Arizona) and Eloisa Lopez (Executive Director of Pro-Choice Arizona).
In the afternoon we hosted a panel on state advocacy efforts featuring representatives from Governor Katie Hobbs’ and Attorney General Kris Mayes’ Offices, State Representative Stephanie Simacek, and State Senator Eva Burch.
Our members then headed to both the state House and Senate chambers, where they were recognized for their efforts in advocating for abortion and reproductive freedom.

Protecting AZ Reproductive Rights: The Next Chapter in the Fight
We’re not just defending our wins—we’re taking the fight directly to those trying to roll back our rights.
Right now, Republican lawmakers are pushing bills to weaken voter power—like HCR 2025, which would raise the threshold for passing a constitutional amendment from 50% to 60%.
This is a full-on retaliatory attack that also threatensdemocracy. They know they can’t win a fair fight, so they’re trying to cheat their way back into restricting our rights.
Meanwhile, we’re advocating for real protections, like the Right to Contraception Act (SB 1429 / HB2744), co-sponsored by Sen. Sundareshan and Rep. Stahl Hamilton, to ensure people can access birth control without government interference.
There is a lot of work to be done, but we are so invigorated by the progress we’ve made thus far in Arizona. Let’s keep going, together!
