Meet Sam, Our DC Organizing Manager
"Action is the best antidote for anxiety."

In our “Meet Reproductive Freedom for All” series, get to know our community—organizers and activists who believe that everybody should be free to control their own bodies and lives. Our movement is growing every day—we want you to be a part of it.
Since I was young I’ve been passionate about politics.
I’m fortunate to have two parents who imbued me with strong progressive values. They both were young in the 1960s and protested the Vietnam War. They taught me the importance of fighting for the rights and dignity of all people. They also taught me that we had to fight to make sure we had a fairer society, and that with privilege comes the responsibility to advocate for those who are less fortunate.
When I was young my mom volunteered at an abortion clinic and she took me to my first pro-choice demonstration when I was a teenager. My family also hosted women who had to travel to NYC for abortion care.
These experiences taught me the importance of political activism and organizing. They’re also part of what keeps me motivated day-to-day. I also stay motivated just by reading the news and knowing that we have to keep fighting for the world we want.
Memorable Moments
I was making phone calls the night of election day in 2024, and polls were closing in just a few hours. I spoke to a young woman in Las Vegas. She had just gotten off a long shift working in the service industry and she had completely forgotten that it was election day. It was my call that reminded her to go and vote. Even though she was exhausted after a really long day she still went back out again. I was very moved by that.
What keeps me inspired
Fighting to protect our rights and our democracy is what I’m most looking forward to mobilizing members around in 2025. We all know the crisis our country is currently in. It’s a very scary time, but it’s also a time of great opportunity. People say that action is the best antidote for anxiety, and I’m looking forward to giving people the tools to act so they can overcome their fears about the moment we’re in.
Looking ahead
I encourage people to share their own stories for why they’re involved and their own ideas for what we should be doing in this moment. I try to always work under the assumption that I can learn something new from anyone and that everyone has good ideas.
👾 Fun fact
I love sci-fi and fantasy!
