ICYMI: Mini Timmaraju Continues My Body. My Ballot. October Sprint With Candidates in California, Arizona, and Nevada

This week, Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju brought the My Body. My Ballot. campaign to battleground races in California, Arizona, and Nevada—connecting the fight for reproductive freedom with health care and affordability, demanding accountability for medical care in ICE detention, and mobilizing voters ahead of Election Day.

In California on Tuesday, Mini joined End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller and endorsed congressional candidate Randy Villegas (CA-22) for a health care roundtable moderated by Reproductive Freedom for All Senior Director of California Campaigns Kristin Slevin. Participants called out Rep. David Valadao’s anti-abortion record and his vote to cut Medi-Cal and defund Planned Parenthood — in a district where 62% of residents rely on Medi-Cal. Villegas laid out his commitment to expanding access to care and lowering costs.

In Arizona on Wednesday, Mini joined Reps. Adelita Grijalva (AZ-07), Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), and Maxine Dexter (OR-03) at the Eloy Detention Center, where women in ICE custody described inadequate medical care. After meeting 24-year-old Maria Alejandra Valero Brinez, who is five months pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy, lawmakers called for her immediate release. Reproductive Freedom for All has launched a petition in support of the demand.

Later that day in Phoenix, Mini joined endorsed congressional candidate Dr. Amish Shah (AZ-01) to launch Reproductive Freedom for All’s paid canvass in the district, which aims to knock on 55,000 doors before Election Day. The launch builds on nearly half a million dollars in targeted mail and digital ads in the district and efforts to mobilize the organization’s more than 100,000 Arizona members.

In Nevada on Thursday, Mini joined Stacey Abrams, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte President and CEO Stacy Cross, and Reproductive Freedom for All Director of Nevada Campaigns Denise Lopez at a press conference to urge voters to pass Question 6 a second time and enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution. Mini then launched Reproductive Freedom for All’s paid canvass for Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03), which aims to knock 45,000 doors ahead of Election Day, and closed the day with Abrams at a Nevada Democrats canvass launch.

Reproductive Freedom for All’s historic My Body. My Ballot. campaign is a $23.5 million investment in mobilizing voters, holding anti-abortion extremists accountable, and electing reproductive freedom champions in key races across the country. The campaign has already knocked more than 200,000 doors, and Reproductive Freedom for All’s more than 4.5 million members will keep up the momentum through Election Day.
