ICYMI: Reproductive Freedom For All California Holds Annual Advocacy Day to Continue Fight for Reproductive Freedom

Reproductive Freedom for All California recently welcomed more than 50 members from across the state to the California State Capitol for its annual Reproductive Freedom Lobby Day and press conference, bringing together supporters, legislators, and partners to advocate for policies that protect and expand reproductive freedom in California.

Throughout the day, members participated in meetings with legislators and their offices to discuss key reproductive freedom priorities, including protecting access to contraception, expanding abortion access, and repealing harmful abortion restrictions.

During a morning press conference held in the Governor’s Press Room, Reproductive Freedom for All California highlighted three co-sponsored bills central to this year’s advocacy efforts:

  • AB 54, authored by Assemblymember Maggy Krell, would strengthen protections for medication abortion in California by protecting manufacturers, distributors, health care providers, and individuals from civil, criminal, or professional liability related to the transportation, distribution, or administration of medication abortion. (2-year bill)
  • AB 1973, authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, would modernize California law by expanding advanced practice clinician scope of practice, allowing nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, and physician assistants to provide abortion care consistent with their education, training, and clinical competency.
  • AB 2540, authored by Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, would expand access to medication abortion services on community college campuses with existing health centers.

The press conference featured remarks from Majority Leader Aguiar-Curry, Assemblymember Krell, Assemblymember Stefani, Assemblymember Patel and Reproductive Freedom for All Senior Director for California Campaigns Kristin Slevin.

Reproductive Freedom for All California remains committed to advancing policies that ensure every Californian has the freedom to make decisions about their bodies, lives, and futures.
