Teresa Leger Fernandez won yesterday’s Democratic primary in New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District, now advancing to the November general election. Last Friday, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue joined Leger Fernandez alongside EMILY’s List and Planned Parenthood Action Fund Presidents Stephanie Schriock and Alexis McGill Johnson to co-host the “Women for Teresa” Get Out the Vote virtual kickoff event.
In response to Leger Fernandez’s primary victory, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:
“NARAL congratulates Teresa Leger Fernandez on her win in the Democratic primary. Now more than ever, we need to send people who will fight for freedom, justice, and the dignity of every human being to Washington. Teresa is that person. She’s a champion of reproductive freedom and justice and will be a true representative of those most affected by the dangerous and demeaning laws sweeping our nation. The stakes are higher than ever, and New Mexicans need fierce advocates who won’t back down in the face of relentless attacks.
