Former State Representative and Candidate for Colorado’s Third Congressional District Earns Endorsement from Nation’s Leading Pro-Choice Advocacy Group
NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of Diane Mitsch Bush in her campaign to be elected U.S. Representative for Colorado’s Third Congressional District.
Mitsch Bush formerly represented Colorado’s 26th House District in addition to serving as Routt County Commissioner. She is now seeking to flip the seat currently held by anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican incumbent Representative Scott Tipton. In November she will face off against gun-rights activist Lauren Boebert, who defeated Tipton in the Republican primary.
“NARAL is proud to endorse Diane Mitsch Bush, who we know will be a strong and passionate advocate for reproductive freedom in Congress,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue. “As anti-choice extremists continue to ramp up their campaign to ban abortion in Colorado, now more than ever it’s important for Coloradans to elect leaders who will truly represent their values. We have no doubt that Mitsch Bush will be that leader.”
“NARAL and our 52,000 members in Colorado are thrilled to extend our full support to Diane Mitsch Bush in her campaign to defeat Lauren Boebert,” said NARAL Pro-Choice America Southwest Regional Director Caroline Mello Roberson. “Mitsch Bush is a true public servant who has dedicated her career to addressing the challenges facing Coloradans. Unlike her opponent, we know that she will be a strong and trusted voice for women and families in Congress.”
“I will always be a fierce advocate for women and families in Congress” said Diane Mitsch Bush. “If elected, Lauren Boebert would defund Planned Parenthood and take away critical life-saving services like cancer screenings from families right here in the Third District. We can’t let that happen.”
Diane Mitsch Bush is is committed to safeguarding the right to abortion and expanding access to reproductive healthcare. In 2017, Mitsch Bush earned a 100% score from NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado in the Legislative Scorecard and Political Report.
Mitsch Bush’s opponent, Republican candidate Lauren Boebert, owns and operates Shooters Grill, where the wait staff openly carry firearms. In the Republican primary, Boebert presented herself to voters as the more conservative alternative to Republican incumbent Scott Tipton, in addition to expressing her support for defunding Planned Parenthood.
Also on the Colorado ballot this November is Proposition 115, a ballot initiative pushed by anti-choice extremists to ban abortion in the state. Colorado voters — a strong majority of whom support reproductive freedom and the right to abortion — have rejected similar bans at the ballot box three times already.
