Press Release
Washington, DC — Today, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
NARAL Pro-Choice America Chief Campaigns and Advocacy Officer Christian LoBue released the following statement in response:
“We applaud the Senate’s confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Her confirmation to the D.C. Circuit brings us one step closer to a judiciary that better represents the diversity of our nation and one that will uphold our most fundamental rights and freedoms—including reproductive freedom.”
Judge Jackson is an experienced and distinguished attorney who has spent much of her career fighting for justice and our most basic rights. At a time when Roe v. Wade is on the line like never before and anti-choice state lawmakers are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to criminalize abortion, we need a judiciary committed to upholding and defending justice, civil rights, equal rights, individual liberties, and the fundamental constitutional rights of equal protection, dignity, and privacy, including the right to have an abortion. Now, more than ever, we need judges serving on our courts who understand the intent and impact of the laws and cases they are adjudicating.
