Abortion is a common part of reproductive health care. Yet politicians intentionally spread disinformation to stigmatize it.
Our electoral efforts connect voters with opportunities to make tangible change to help build a future where everyone is free to make their own decisions about their bodies, lives, and families.
We elect reproductive freedom champions from statehouses to the White House and protect and expand abortion rights and access through ballot measures.
Under a second Trump presidency, attacks on reproductive freedom have been relentless. But we’re tracking and fighting back against this extremist anti-abortion agenda.
Project 2025 is no longer just a “plan,” it’s a checklist of extreme policies being implemented at an alarming pace.

Today, on the 10th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), NARAL President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:
“Today marks 10 years since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, allowing millions of Americans to access life-saving healthcare coverage. The ACA was a huge advancement for reproductive freedom and gender equity, making birth control affordable, prioritizing pre- and post-natal care, and striking ‘women’ from pre-existing conditions. But, instead of celebrating this progress, Trump has doubled down on his threats to demolish it. In normal times, this would be irresponsible. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s unconscionable.
The truth is that Republicans have recklessly spent the last decade trying to undermine this landmark legislation that allows women and families across the United States to access critical coverage, even pushing a case to the U.S. Supreme Court that could unravel it. This moment requires real leadership, and it has cast their dangerous priorities into sharp relief. Millions of Americans rely on the ACA for coverage. NARAL will never stop fighting for everyone to get the care they need and holding politicians to account who prioritize their heartless agenda over the health and well-being of their constituents.”
President Donald Trump over the weekend replied to a question from a reporter about whether the administration would reconsider its lawsuit that could undo the Affordable Care Act in light of the public health crisis caused by the coronavirus by affirming that he wants to “get rid” of the policy allowing millions access to insurance coverage.
When Republicans waged war on the Affordable Care Act in 2017, NARAL and its members mobilized to let members of Congress know we wouldn’t stand by and allow them to jeopardize the healthcare coverage of millions of Americans. Our members made thousands of phone calls and sent 50,000 messages to Congress opposing the repeal efforts, ultimately helping to stop these dangerous efforts in their tracks.
