NARAL Pro-Choice America Responds to News That Biden Administration Will Not Nominate Chad Meredith

Washington, DC — Today, news broke that the Biden administration has decided not to move ahead with the nomination of Chad Meredith, who has a lengthy record of hostility towards reproductive freedom. As Solicitor General of Kentucky, Meredith defended Kentucky’s anti-choice mandatory ultrasound law, a targeted restriction on abortion providers (TRAP) law that would have closed down the state’s single abortion clinic, and other restrictions on abortion.
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“We’re pleased that the Biden administration made this decision—it’s the right call. With abortion rights and access on the line in Kentucky and across the country, it is absolutely essential that all judges defend and uphold our fundamental rights and freedoms, including reproductive freedom.”
