NARAL Pro-Choice America Responds to Tim Scott’s 2024 Announcement
Washington, DC — Today, anti-abortion politician Tim Scott announced his campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination for president. As U.S. senator for South Carolina, Scott has opposed efforts to expand freedom, such as the Women’s Health Protection Act, while voting for a nationwide ban on abortion and an expansion of the anti-abortion Hyde Amendment—earning him a score of “zero” on NARAL’s Congressional Record on Reproductive Freedom every year since elected to the Senate.
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“Just like every other Republican candidate in the field, Tim Scott has proven himself to be hostile towards reproductive freedom and the values of the majority time and again. We don’t need any more proof—his record of extremism speaks for itself. No matter who wins the GOP nomination, know this: NARAL and our members are ready to mobilize to ensure a reproductive freedom champion remains in the White House, and we won’t back down when our fundamental rights are on the line.”
