NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada Endorses 12 Candidates for Election to State Office
Carson City — Today, NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada announced its endorsement of 12 candidates running for election up and down the ballot, from the state legislature to the lieutenant governor’s office.
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“The fight for abortion rights and access has always started in the states, and the end of Roe v. Wade has only amplified how critical it is to elect leaders like these candidates who we can count on to safeguard Nevadans’ fundamental rights. As MAGA extremists pull out all the stops to ban abortion, NARAL is proud to endorse this slate of candidates as we work state by state to make sure everybody has the freedom to decide.”
NARAL Pro-Choice Southwest Regional Director Caroline Mello Roberson released the following statement:
“NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada is proud to endorse this slate of reproductive freedom candidates for state office. Now more than ever, Nevadans need leaders who will honor our values as one of the few places in the nation with a voter-affirmed right to abortion. From the state legislature to the lieutenant governor’s office, these candidates have made it clear that they will fight to protect our right to make our own decisions about our lives, families, and futures—and we’ll be working alongside our 48,000 members in Nevada to make sure they’re elected in November.”

In June, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe in its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization—ending the constitutional right to abortion and opening the door for extremist state lawmakers to put total bans on abortion in place. This decision is already having a devastating impact throughout the country as 14 states are enforcing extreme or total bans on abortion. The people hurt most by these bans and restrictions are those who already face barriers to accessing abortion care—including women; Black, Indigenous, and other people of color; those working to make ends meet; the LGBTQ+ community; immigrants; young people; those living in rural communities; and people with disabilities. As one of the few places in the nation with a voter-affirmed right to abortion, Nevada may play a critical regional role in filling gaps for people in need now that Roe has been overturned and both those seeking abortion care and providers of care face logistical and financial obstacles.
These endorsements come as NARAL Pro-Choice America is ramping up its work to elect candidates up and down the ballot during a critical moment in the fight for reproductive freedom. NARAL, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and EMILY’s List announced a partnership in May to collectively spend a historic $150 million on the 2022 midterms to elect reproductive freedom champions up and down the ballot across the country.
