Washington, DC — NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement in response to pro-Trump insurrectionists storming the U.S. Capitol and waging violence in the Nation’s Capital:
“Today’s events in the U.S. Capitol are a horrifying attack on our nation’s democracy and its people. This attempted coup is a direct result of Trump stoking fear, spreading disinformation, and emboldening anti-democratic white supremacists. They have been aided and abetted by far too many in the Republican Party. We must stand strong in the face of these attacks, certify the rightful winner of this election, and double down on our commitment to democracy and freedom.”
