NARAL Pro-Choice America Responds to Outcome of Race in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District

Virginia — Yesterday, NARAL-endorsed candidate Dr. Cameron Webb narrowly lost his bid for election to the U.S. House of Representatives for Virginia’s 5th congressional district.
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement in response:
“While we had hoped to see a different outcome in this race, NARAL Pro-Choice America and our members will never stop fighting for the 77% of Americans who believe in the legal right to abortion. There’s no question that Bob Good’s position on reproductive freedom is wildly out of touch with the views of the vast majority of Americans. We are proud to have stood with Dr. Cameron Webb as he gave Bob Good a run for his money in this tight race.”
NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia Executive Director Tarina Keene said:
“NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and our members thank Dr. Cameron Webb for his hard fought race against Bob Good and for standing up for the values and principles of reproductive freedom. While we are disappointed in the result, we are proud to have stood with Dr. Webb and we know he will continue to work to ensure every Virginian and American can access the healthcare they need and deserve. NARAL Virginia members and activists will continue to mobilize against out-of-touch politicians like Bob Good and hold him accountable for trying to strip people of their fundamental rights and freedoms.”
Anti-choice, anti-freedom Republican Bob Good’s views are wildly out of step with the values of the 7 in 10 Americans and 79% of Virginians who support reproductive freedom. Good supports a total ban on abortion.
