Reproductive Freedom for All California Releases 2024 Legislative Scorecard
Sacramento, CA — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All California released its 2024 Legislative Scorecard. The scorecard is designed to hold opponents of reproductive freedom in the California state legislature accountable while recognizing legislators who worked to make reproductive freedom a priority in 2024.
In the 2024 scorecard, 74 legislators – more than half the legislature – were designated as reproductive freedom champions or leaders, marking a significant increase from the 2023 scorecard where only 60 legislators earned the champion or leader designation. Of the 74 top-scoring legislators on the 2024 scorecard, 39 were “champions,” with 34 earning an A+, and five earning an A.
Reproductive Freedom for All Chief Campaigns and Advocacy Officer Elizabeth Schoetz released the following statement:
“California has long led the fight to protect reproductive freedom, and we’re thankful to our allies in Sacramento who met the moment to expand access to abortion, birth control, fertility treatments, and more in 2024. With Trump back in office and anti-abortion extremists more emboldened than ever to attack our rights and freedoms, we now need the entire legislature to follow suit and champion policies that will ensure every single person in California can get the care they need.”
