Reproductive Freedom for All California Sounds the Alarm on GOP Efforts to Undermine Elections Amid New Ballot Measure on the State’s Congressional Map
Sacramento, California – Today, Reproductive Freedom for All California thanks Governor Newsom for his leadership and applauds members in the California legislature for passing the Election Rigging Response Act (ERRA) to protect and preserve Californians’ vote. Following the passage of this legislation, California voters now have the opportunity to vote on a new Congressional Map this November, empowering voters to push back against Donald Trump’s efforts to steal votes in favor of an extreme anti-abortion agenda.
Reproductive Freedom for All California has more than 400,000 members who lobbied to ensure the ERRA was passed, officially giving voters the power to approve California’s new congressional map. We will educate communities and voters through on-the-ground and digital organizing actions and trainings in key parts of the state that highlight what’s at stake in November, including leveraging our volunteer leaders as trusted messengers, and working closely with the ballot initiative campaign to grow public support ahead of the special election.
President and CEO of Reproductive Freedom for All, Mini Timmaraju, released the following statement in response:
“This is the time to hold Republicans accountable before they rig the congressional maps and steal votes to undermine our democracy. In the lead-up to the midterms, Donald Trump and his MAGA allies know their record is full of failed policies that have made voters angry after stripping away their health care. Control of the House hangs in the balance of these redistricting fights, and if Trump and the GOP succeed, they will ban abortion nationwide.”
