Reproductive Freedom for All Condemns the United States v. Skrmetti Decision that Undermines the Rights and Bodily Autonomy of the LGBTQIA+ Community

Washington, DC — Today, the United States Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors in United States v. Skrmetti, failing to protect families’ freedoms and opening the floodgates for further attacks on health care. As Justice Sonia Sotomayor powerfully stated in her dissent, this decision will cause “untold harm to transgender children and the parents and families who love them.”

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“This decision puts vulnerable young people, their families, and their health care providers in danger. This threatens everyone’s bodily autonomy, which impacts our ability to make our own health care decisions. We cannot let any attack on our fundamental freedoms go unanswered.”
