Reproductive Freedom for All Congratulates Vice President Harris on Formally Securing the Democratic Nomination
Washington, DC — Today, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison announced that Vice President Kamala Harris has received a majority of the pledged and automatic delegates in the electronic roll call to soon secure the Democratic nomination. Vice President Kamala Harris has now formally secured enough delegates to become the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for president. Vice President Harris has announced that she plans to accept the nomination next week. She would be the first woman, the first Black woman and first person of South Asian American descent to serve as president.Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement in response:
“This is a historic moment for Democrats and the entire country. Vice President Kamala Harris has made history as the first Black woman and first person of South Asian descent to secure the presidential nominee. She is the candidate we need to meet the moment and the historic momentum behind her race is not stopping anytime soon. We, along with our 4 million members nationwide, are getting to work to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme nationwide abortion ban by electing Vice President Harris to fight for our reproductive freedom and democracy. As Vice President Harris says, when we fight we win.”
