Reproductive Freedom for All Endorses Peggy Flanagan to Represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate
Washington, DC — Today, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“Through Peggy Flanagan’s leadership, Minnesota became the first state to protect abortion care through legislation after the Dobbs decision. She has championed reproductive freedom at every turn, and we must send her to the Senate to build a Democratic majority that will fight for our healthcare and fundamental rights.”
Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan released the following statement:
“I trust women. It’s why I am the only candidate in this race who believes women, along with their doctors, are entitled to make their own decisions about abortion. Our daughters – mine included – are growing up with fewer rights today than their mothers and that’s unacceptable. I will fight my tail off to ensure that every woman in America has the freedom to call the shots about their reproductive health.”
Throughout her career, Lt. Gov. Flanagan has never wavered in her support for protecting and expanding reproductive freedom. In the Minnesota House, she pushed for progressive healthcare reforms and laid the groundwork for future protections of Minnesotans’ reproductive freedom. As lieutenant governor, she served in the Walz administration when Minnesota enacted the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, which recognizes a fundamental right to make individual decisions about contraception, pregnancy, childbirth, abortion, and other reproductive healthcare.
Lt. Gov. Flanagan’s opponent, Michele Tafoya, stated that she is “in line with President Trump” on abortion, and called Minnesota’s existing protections for abortion care “awful” and “barbaric.” If elected, Tafoya would work to advance the Trump administration’s deeply unpopular anti-abortion agenda in Minnesota and beyond.
