Reproductive Freedom for All Responds to House Republicans Doubling Down on New Abortion Coverage Restrictions Instead of Extending ACA Tax Credits
Washington, DC — Last Friday, GOP House leadership revealed a “plan” that doubles down on attacking abortion access instead of extending the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits that millions of families rely on to stay insured. This week is the final legislative week of 2025 for the House, and the bill will be up for a vote on Wednesday.
This empty partisan proposal comes as ACA tax credits are set to expire at the end of the year—making clear that Republicans could not care less about the health and wellbeing of their constituents. Forcing a vote on additional abortion coverage restrictions is just Republicans’ latest attempt to distract from their refusal to lower health care costs.
Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:
“With millions of people at risk of losing their coverage, Republicans are wasting the final days of the year pushing cruel and unpopular abortion restrictions instead of doing their jobs. This isn’t leadership, it’s deliberate obstruction. There’s one clear solution here: pass a clean extension of the ACA tax credits to prevent costs from skyrocketing and keep families insured.”
