Reproductive Freedom for All Responds to Trump’s Selection of Pam Bondi for U.S. Attorney General

Washington, DC Today, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he will nominate Pam Bondi for U.S. attorney general. As Florida’s attorney general, Bondi defended the state’s abortion restrictions. The attorney general leads the Department of Justice (DOJ) and makes key decisions about how to enforce federal law, including leading litigation efforts representing and defending federal agencies and federal officials. As attorney general, Bondi would be responsible for enforcing federal laws, including those with a direct impact on reproductive and civil rights—such as the DOJ’s interpretation and enforcement of the Comstock Act and prosecuting violations of federal emergency abortion care protections.

Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju released the following statement:

“Trump is packing his administration to the brim with extremists, and Pam Bondi is no exception. Just like his other nominees, he knows he can count on her to carry out his dangerous agenda without question. With our rights and freedoms on the line, our 4 million members are ready to mobilize to hold Bondi accountable for her anti-abortion extremism and stop this nomination in its tracks.”
